Top Fry Nakuru have cemented their lead atop the National Sevens Series standings after winning their home tournament for the first time, beating Menengai Cream Homeboyz 7-5 in a tense final at the Nakuru Athletic Club on Sunday 30 August 2015.
Tournament MVP Geoffrey Ominde scored and converted his own try three minutes from half time to put the Wanyore 7-0 up before Oscar Ayodi replied with a coast to coast try for
Homeboyz, breaching the Wanyore defense to touch down, Augustine Lugonzo missing the conversion at half time.
The second half was scoreless and saw both sides spurn gilt edged opportunities,Nakuru holding out for the historic result.
Speaking after the game, Head Coach Gibson Weru said, “We are very proud to win our home tournament after falling short in the past.We kept our discipline and stuck to our structure, this is what worked for us.”

Kabras Sugar lifted the plate title with a 28-12 win over Kenya Harlequin as Blak Blad upset Western Bulls 10-5 to claim the bowl. Makueni nearly caused an upset, racing to a 17-5 lead before the Monks rallied to win the shield with a 19-17 result.
