Venue : PAWA254 Mageuzi Theatre
Time : 6pm – 8.30pm

This month’s DOCUBOX PAWA 254 screening is Portrait of a Mall Terrorist by Norwegian filmmaker Anders Sømme Hammer (1977), a Norwegian documentarian and journalist. In addition to directing ”A Portrait of a Mall Terrorist”, he has directed a number of documentaries from Afghanistan and Iraq and written three books.

Portrait of a Mall Terrorist follows the journey and story of Hassan who came to Norway from Somalia when he was only eleven (11) years old. Two years ago, to the month, he made his way to Nairobi, where he took an active part in the cold-blooded slaughter at Westgate shopping mall. What prompted Hassan to turn his back on a peaceful little town in Norway to become a terrorist? The film traces Hassan’s steps from his birth in Somalia to his death in Nairobi twenty-three years later.

On the day of our screening, Anders will be in the country especially to show his film at Mageuzi Theatre, PAWA 254 on Wednesday, 30th September 2015 from 6pm.

There will be a Q&A after and we are hoping Anders will be joined on stage by a few panelists who have spent time trying to really understand the complexities of terrorism and what it means for us all in Kenya today.

We welcome you to the screening of this grievous, but yet insightful film.
