Pop-Up Paint Nairobi
Pop-UP Paint is happening on Saturday 15th August in the Sigiria section of Karura Forest off Thigri lane.
The event is held by a qualified Expressive Arts therapist and the theme for this session is mask making. Mask making is one of the oldest human traditions, used to represent the intersection of the physical and immaterial (body and mind/spirit) and the blurred and multi-faceted identities of the human experience. In art therapy, creating a mask from scratch or decorating a pre-made mask often leads to exploring one’s persona. Masks can bring to consciousness how we both see ourselves or what we fantasize we would like to be.
There has been a few interesting articles you can check out- below is one that focuses on mask work with soldiers returning from War with PTSD:
Or if you don’t feel like making a mask just come hang out and work on an individual/collective project you have already started or one that you want to start. Feel free to BYO drinks, food, music, materials. See you there….
Limited spaces so make sure you confirm in time.
Please Mpesa 2000/- to 0701748053 by the 14th August to reserve your space- this includes entrance and materials.
