Mwamba RFC wins Driftwood Sevens
Mwamba RFC won the third round of the National Sevens Series, scoring 24 first points en route to a 29-0 shut out of Top Fry Nakuru in the Driftwood Sevens Cup final at the K.P.A Mbaraki Sports Club in Mombasa City on Sunday 23 August 2015.
Any hopes of this final being a close contest were soon watered down when Nakuru’s Nelson Oyoo was red carded a minute into the first half by referee Constant Cap after biting Mwamba’s Collins Injera.
The floodgates soon opened, Horace Otieno going over for a 5-0 lead before Martin Wanjia converted Dan Sikuta’s try for a 12-0 lead. When Wanjia converted Brad Owako’s try, Mwamba were running away with it, 19-0 against a shell shocked Wanyore. Collins Injera would grab one before half time before Humphrey Kayange sealed the result with a try deep in second half.
Pan Africa Strathmore Leos claimed third place with a 19-12 win over Menengai Cream Homeboyz while KCB lifted the plate with a 7-0 win over Kenya Harlequin.
Kabras Sugar lifted the bowl with a 21-7 win over Blak Blad as Total Nondies posted a 29-0
win over Kisumu to claim the shield.
Daystar and Comras were relegated from the top tier division after bowing out of the tournament at the shield semi final stage.
Makueni stopped MKU Nairobi 17-12 to claim the Division Two Title.
